# Sharing a project

> Preview and live, and which one to show to whom.

There is a right thing to show every audience. Showing the wrong one either exposes work in progress or confuses the person you are trying to convince.

## Preview and live

- **Preview** is the current state of the project. It changes constantly and is meant for the people building it.
- **Live** is the published app on its address. It is stable, and it is what customers use.

## Showing work to someone outside the workspace

The safest options are to show the preview yourself, on a call or in person, or to give the person a limited role in the workspace. If you need to share a link to the live app, publish first and share the live address.

## Showing work in progress

When you are presenting, say which one is on screen: "this is the preview, it changes every few minutes" saves confusion.

## Publishing is a separate decision

Editing a project does not change the live app. It changes when you publish. See [Publishing your app](/publish/publishing-your-app).

> [!note] Links in chat apps are often expanded into previews. Make sure your title, description and preview image are set before you paste a link anywhere public.
