# Finding your way around

> A short map of the builder: chat, preview, code, history and settings.

The builder has more going on than a chat window, but on a normal day you only need a few parts of it.

## The main areas

### Chat

The place where work happens. You describe changes, review plans and read summaries here.

### Preview

Your app, running. Check it on narrow and wide screens as well as on your own monitor.

### Code

Every project is real code you can read, and edit directly if you prefer typing to describing. See [Editing files directly](/build/editing-files).

### History

A record of changes to the project, so you can see what changed and go back if needed. See [Versions and restore](/build/versions-and-restore).

## Settings that belong to a project

Some settings belong to the app rather than to the workspace, for example:

- Name, icon and look
- Domains and publishing
- Connected services, such as payments or email
- Secrets used by the app

Workspace-level settings, such as members and billing, live with the workspace instead. See [Workspace settings](/workspace/workspace-settings).

> [!note] Panel names and positions may differ slightly from this description as the builder evolves. If you cannot find something, ask in the chat where it is.
